Women of Comedy: Election Fever

07/06/2024 - From 19h00 - Public

The June edition of the International Women's Comedy Night at The Nine, and we are excited for a very special Election focus.
Because what is more amusing than modern politics?

COMEDIANS

Your host and MC for the evening will be Kym Nelson, Script Writer, Performer and Stand-up Comedian. She has studied with the UK's leading comedy coach, Jill Edwards, and the French master clown and professor of theatre, Philippe Gaulier. She performs in London, Brussels and the Netherlands, including at the iconic 'Boom Chicago' in Amsterdam.

She recently scripted and performed her first comedy play at the Camden Fringe and her one-woman show at the Museum of Comedy. She also teaches confidence-building workshops using techniques in stand-up comedy! Instagram: kym_mindatplay.

Rachel Morton-Young

Rachel calls herself a professional chatterbox. It clearly works as she was recently awarded Best Stand-Up by the worldwide comedy awards. She is based in Utrecht, the Netherlands and has been performing comedy for 7 years.

Sharon Em

Sharon is often described as that funny Irish woman. She is a comedian working in the Amsterdam English comedy scene as a performer, promoter and booker. She runs comedy nights all over the Netherlands under the name Weird Uncle Comedy.

Ariane

Ariane is a passionate language nerd, her dream is to perform stand up in as many languages as possible. She has already performed in French, English, Dutch, Spanish and Hungarian.

Tamar Levi

Being Cornish, Jewish and Alaskan, Tamar Levi has much to unpack! She accidentally fell in love with the hairiest Greek she could find, and they ended up taste-testing all the Belgian chocolate on hand in Brussels. With thoughtful and surreal observational comedy, she performs comedy with a light touch and a feminist edge.

Pearl

Bringing some musical comedy is Pearl - a songwriter, bassist, and performance poet who, like Cher and Madonna, prefers to be known just by her first name. She debuted her two-woman show “The Bride Who Shagged Me” in the cabaret tent at Glastonbury Festival and then toured it around the spoken word clubs of London. She brings a surreal, heady mix of poetry, slapstick, and musical jingles.

Singer, JoBee Project

JoBee is a singer, songwriter, composer, vocal trainer, founder of the legendary Supafly Collective – the first female hip hop crew in Belgium, an activist for women in music and culture, and radio presenter at Radio Bruzz in Brussels where she has lived and worked for 15 years. She has participated in The Voice of Poland and Must Be the Music and toured throughout Europe. She has just launched her third album.
