01/10/2024 - From 18h30 - Members & Guests
Registration mandatory

How to succeed as a mixed woman in a polarized world, where the rights of women are questioned.
How to find its legitimacy despite the rise of extremism and propose an alternative vision on identity?

The Nine is honoured to welcome Nancy Dzokoto Pomenya for a unique Q&A and book reading. In conversation with Georgia Brooks, also of mixed background, the Q&A will touch upon questions of identity, legitimacy, and authenticity in a globalized world.

Nancy is the author of "Elikem l'Afropéenne". She grew up in Dole, in Franche-Comté, in eastern France. Born to a Ghanaian father and a French mother, she wanted to carry the voice of a woman, mixed race, in a changing world in full turmoil. Her questions about her legitimacy and place in a world which oscillates between the need to be among her own people and at the same time, to go on an adventure in search of somewhere else, of her other self.

The book is a quest for identity full of twists and turns where joy, fear, anger and sometimes love intertwine. The construction of a young woman first through the discovery of the Ghanaian environment in Paris, then through her academic and professional experiences between her two continents.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase on the evening. Plus discover more from Nancy ahead of the event:
