About Augusta
Specialising in sustainable design, Augusta gallery is exhibiting unique and innovative pieces created by designers using recycled or bio-based materials. Solo, duo and group exhibitions alternate to highlight the diversity and vibrancy of innovation in European design.

The renovation of 5 rue Coppens was also guided by the reuse of materials. The house in which Augusta is located has been completely renovated and fitted out by Ariane van Dievoet, using as many existing elements as possible and favouring natural materials. The aim is to make this space a place for reflection on sustainable design and to bring designers and the public together around this approach.

Augusta was founded by two sisters, Ariane and Lara van Dievoet. They named the gallery after their great-grandmother, Augusta Debled, who was an art gallerist in the 1920’s.

Curator of the gallery, Ariane van Dievoet is a designer specialising in the repurposing of materials. She set up her design studio, AVANDI, in Brooklyn in 2014, before returning to Brussels in 2018. She has 10 years’ experience in prototyping, eco-design and local production. Ariane teaches product design at CAD and is a board member at Micro Factory.

Lara van Dievoet is in charge of communications for Augusta. She is also a visiting professor at UCLouvain and the University of Lille where she teaches press relations and innovative web formats. Lara holds a Ph.D. in information and communication and was a freelance journalist specialised in entrepreneurship for 7 years.
