The Nine in Gent: Trui Hanoulle Exhibition & Networking
23/07/2025 - From 17h to 20h - Public
The Nine is on the road again, and we're coming to Ghent!
In this very special evening, join us for Move She Does, a powerful visual and narrative journey by Belgian photographer, motorcyclist, and storyteller Trui Hanoulle.
This immersive exhibition spotlights women and girls around the world who defy stereotypes by claiming public space through their vehicles - from skateboards and bicycles to trucks, boats, motorbikes, and aircrafts.
Enjoy a private tour of the exhibition with Trui herself, who can share her deeper insight into her travels - from Iran to Tanzania, India, Japan, and many, many more.

About Trui Hanoulle
Inspired by her 2008 book Girls, Muslims & Motorcycles, published with Gaea Schoeters, Trui took the conceptual seed of mobility as emancipation and expanded it globally into Move She Does.
Since 2022, she’s gathered remarkable stories in countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Tanzania, Italy, England, Belgium, Japan, and India—35 compelling portraits to date. The project has earned support from the Pascal Decroos Fund and Awesome Without Borders.
Baanbreeksters” (Trailblazers / Move She Does) will become a book, to be published in September 2026 by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts — in Dutch.
About The Event
This evening is a rare opportunity to explore the nuance of gender, mobility, and empowerment. Guests will discover how vehicles become tools of independence, resistance, and community - challenging norms and changing societies one ride at a time.
Plus don't miss the first outing of The Nine community in Ghent, after pop-up events in Antwerp and ahead of more in Liège and abroad later in the year.
