Through The Eye of Roxane Lahidji | Augusta Gallery
16/12/2025 - From 18h to 20h - Members & GuestsRegistration mandatory
The Nine returns to Augusta Gallery, an incredible space run by two visionary sisters who place sustainable art at the heart of all their projects.
This time, Augusta hosts the first solo exhibition of furniture and objects made from sea salt (you read that right) by Roxane Lahidji. Ethereal Blend brings together some of her signature pieces along with new creations presented as part of Brussels Design September.
Though her work has been shown across the world, in New York, Dubai, Sydney, Paris, and London, Brussels is the first city to dedicate a full exhibition exclusively to the work of Roxane Lahidji. The founder of Marbled Salts creates furniture and objects using an innovative material she developed from sea salt.
Salt landscapes and iconic lamps
Presented during Brussels Design September, the exhibition highlights Roxane Lahidji’s newest creations. These include a wooden-and-salt coffee table and several wall pieces that resemble true salt landscapes. “There is a particular poetry in the connection between salt, the sea, and light. The texture of salt mixed with water, sometimes translucent like snow, takes me back to childhood. It’s a very contemplative, almost meditative relationship. What I love about this material is that each person sees something different in it... a memory, a sensation, an image,” says Roxane Lahidji.
An innovative material
Originally from Paris, Roxane Lahidji now lives in Brussels and works from her studio at Zaventem Ateliers. Her pieces are crafted from sea salt, water, natural binders, and pigments, a reusable and repairable material protected by resin. The salt mixture is worked by hand, shaped or molded, then dried, sanded, and polished until it takes on the appearance of stone or marble.
She developed her first salt-based pieces in 2017 and immediately received exhibition and collaboration proposals, along with several awards. The Design Museum Ghent, CID Grand Hornu, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris have all acquired her work for their permanent design collections. This first solo show highlights the unique and groundbreaking nature of her practice.
