Ahead of International Women’s Day 2026, The Nine and ELECTA are proud to co-organise A Tribute to Women in Power, a high-level event celebrating women who lead, decide, and shape Europe’s political future.

The programme will feature keynote addresses by Marta Kos, European Commissioner, and Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament(TBD).

Drawing on their personal leadership journeys and institutional perspectives, they will speak to the responsibilities, challenges, and transformative impact of women in positions of power.

This will be followed by a panel discussion with Ian Marquardt, Josef Lentsch, Pauline Verhaeghe, and Minister Ben Meenders on the importance of training women for the expected and unexpected challenges and opportunities in politics.

Beyond celebration, A Tribute to Women in Power is a call to action. Despite progress, women remain underrepresented at every level of political leadership across Europe and beyond

Structural barriers, gender bias, disproportionate scrutiny, and persistent inequalities continue to limit access to political power and longevity in office. Encouraging and supporting women in politics is not only a matter of fairness, it is fundamental to the quality of governance and democracy.

Hosted in Brussels at the heart of European decision-making, this event brings together policymakers, civil society leaders, and emerging voices to reflect on women’s leadership in politics. Given the popularity and high-level nature of this event, early subscription is advised.
